Horus Heresy 2e Review: Legion Cerberus Squadron

Warpstone Flux Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
4/5 stars. I'm a fan of the neutron laser!

Background.
In the calculus of warfare, the legions know that anyone crewing these beasts will require re-building at some point in the future, or face certain death from exotic radiation. Fundamentally, this is a spartan variant that mounts a neutron laser to the front and represents a threat to even titan class enemies.

Strengths.
With S=10, AP=1, ord=4, shock pulse, and 3 lots of concussive, the major weapon alone is a massive weapon that is well noted for its killing potential against other vehicles.

The protection from AV=14 on the front and sides is of course strong as well particularly when coupled with the flare shield. It also has customization potential for the sponsons and pintle which is the icing on the cake.

Weaknesses.
Expensive. But everything that is a Lord of War is.

Builds.
Cerberus, Las Cannon Sponsons (435 points).
Shoot your neutron laser every turn and target those high value targets. Good luck!

I have to point out that the Laser battery is actually ordinance 4, also I can't find reference to the Bombard and reinforced special rules that apply to the Cerberus, have you had any more luck ?

Oops - drat. Reading off the rules for the neutron laser! doh. Fixed now.
Nope, can't find the bombard.

Bombard is at page 95 of Liber Astartes (same in Liber Hereticus I think).
I see a main issue regarding Typhon and Cerberus tanks: they are LoW but are not granted the status of Super Heavy Vehicles so they can explode after a single hit... moreover, they share the same chassis as the Spartan but the latter is a Heavy Support...and this takes to my main point, it is impossible, in a normal game (i.e. 3000 pts), to use both a Cerberus/Typhon and a Primarch 'cause they have to share the 25% points allowance. This could have been fixed by making them Heavy Support and fixing their choice to a single model instead of a squadron of possibly 2 vehicles

cheers ascaro we were obviously looking in the wrong place. Regarding the lack of superheavy status, just shows that you need to think about how you play it e.g. not as I play my BA Falcion as a line breaker leading a charge of Land Raiders and Rhino transports.

In my DA army the Cerberus is going to be used as a Sniper along with the Sicarian Venators.

I think when a bunch of vets like us can't find the rules, those rules perhaps need to be clustered together better! :)
