Horus Heresy 2e Review: Legion Sicaran Venator Squadron

Warpstone Flux Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
4.5/5 stars, rounded down. The rules are good.

Background.
Lessons learned during the Great Crusade accelerated the idea of needing BIG GUNS at FAST SPEEDS against some xenos breeds. Thus was born the Venator.

Strengths.
This is the classic anti-tank variant of the Sicaran chassis. It mounts the impressive neutron beam laser on its centreline. This is not only Ordnance 2, but also has concussive and shock pulse to add up to a reliable anti-tank answer.

Weaknesses.
Once more, not many weaknesses are present, but you need to think carefully about positioning as this beast will become a target very quickly.

Builds.
Sicaran, Neutron Beam Laser, Sponson Lascannons, 1 hunter-killer missile, Searchlights (220 points).
Take a second one at a slightly reduced cost just to be sure your tank target dies. The lascannon sponsons are almost no brainers here in terms of the build thanks to the nearly matched strength. The hunter-killer missile is to taste. And the searchlights are to not waste any time.
